Garage owners have been warned to be on the lookout for a car with stolen number plates.
The plates, registration YE57 BNA, were taken from a Toyota on Field Head Drive, Cross Hills, between 8pm and 10pm yesterday.
Police believe they may be put on another car and used to steal petrol.
Anyone with information should contact Skipton Police Station on 0845 6060 247.
